Introduction

issues.cash is a bounty platform. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

What We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Bitcoin Cash addresses — When you create or claim a bounty, you provide a BCH address. This is stored in our database.
  • GitHub/GitLab username — We receive your username from GitHub/GitLab when you interact with bounties via comments or pull requests.

Information We Receive Automatically

  • GitHub/GitLab webhook data — When you comment on issues or submit pull requests, we receive event data from GitHub/GitLab including your username, comment content, and repository information.
  • Basic server logs — Standard web server logs including IP addresses, timestamps, and request information. These are retained for debugging purposes.

Information We Don't Collect

  • Private keys — We never have access to your wallet's private keys.
  • Personal identification — We don't require or collect names, emails, phone numbers, or government IDs.
  • Tracking cookies — We don't use analytics or advertising trackers.

How We Use Your Data

We use collected data to:

  • Operate the service — Process bounties, verify GitHub/GitLab events, and execute smart contract transactions.
  • Display public information — Show bounty listings, contributor profiles, and organization statistics on the website.
  • Communicate with you — Post bot comments on GitHub/GitLab issues and pull requests.
  • Maintain security — Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access.

What's Public

By design, certain information is public:

  • Blockchain data — All Bitcoin Cash transactions are public and permanent. Anyone can see bounty funding, payouts, and refunds on the blockchain.
  • GitHub/GitLab activity — Your bounty-related comments and pull requests are visible according to the repository's visibility settings.
  • Website listings — Active bounties, contributor statistics, and organization rankings are displayed publicly on issues.cash.

Data Storage

  • Database — We store bounty metadata, BCH addresses, and GitHub/GitLab usernames in a PostgreSQL database.
  • Blockchain — Transaction data is permanently stored on the Bitcoin Cash blockchain.
  • Logs — Server logs are retained for a limited period for security purposes.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

We integrate with:

  • GitHub — For repository webhooks and bot comments. See GitHub's Privacy Policy.
  • GitLab — For repository webhooks and bot comments. See GitLab's Privacy Policy.
  • Electrum servers — For Bitcoin Cash blockchain access. These are public infrastructure and don't receive personal data.

Your Rights

You can:

  • View your data — Your bounty activity is visible on the website and blockchain.
  • Request deletion — Contact us to request deletion of your data from our database. Note that blockchain transactions cannot be deleted.
  • Opt out — Simply don't use the service. We don't track you outside of direct interactions.

Data Retention

  • Active bounties — Data is retained while bounties are active.
  • Completed bounties — Historical data is retained for record-keeping and statistics.
  • Blockchain data — Permanent and cannot be deleted.

Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data:

  • Webhook signature verification
  • Encrypted database connections
  • Access controls on infrastructure
