Terms of Service

Last updated: January 30, 2026

Welcome

issues.cash is a decentralized bounty platform that connects open source maintainers with contributors.

By using issues.cash, you agree to these terms.

How It Works

  • Maintainers create bounties by commenting on GitHub/GitLab issues and funding a smart contract with BCH.
  • Contributors claim bounties by submitting pull/merge requests and providing their BCH address.
  • Smart contracts hold the funds in escrow.
  • Our oracle verifies GitHub/GitLab events and signs transactions to release funds when a PR is merged.
  • Refunds happen automatically when an issue is closed without a merged PR, or after the bounty expires.

Eligibility

To use issues.cash, you must:

  • Be of legal age in your jurisdiction
  • Have a GitHub or GitLab account
  • Have a Bitcoin Cash wallet you control
  • Not be prohibited from using cryptocurrency services under applicable law

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Your wallet security. We never have access to your private keys. If you lose access to your wallet, we cannot recover your funds.
  • Accurate information. Provide correct BCH addresses. Transactions on the blockchain are irreversible.
  • Platform compliance. Follow GitHub's and GitLab's terms of service when using their platforms.
  • Tax obligations. You are responsible for any taxes owed on bounties you receive or pay.
  • Understanding the technology. You should be familiar with how Bitcoin Cash and smart contracts work before using this service.

Our Role

We operate the oracle that connects GitHub/GitLab events to the blockchain. Here's what that means:

  • We don't custody your funds. Funds are held by smart contracts on the Bitcoin Cash blockchain, not by us.
  • We don't mediate disputes. The smart contract is the arbiter. If a PR (on GitHub) or MR (on GitLab) is merged, the contributor gets paid. If the issue is closed, the maintainer gets refunded.
  • We sign transactions. Our oracle verifies events and authorizes payouts, but the contract enforces the rules.
  • We can't steal your funds. The contract only allows payment to the contributor (on merge) or refund to the maintainer (on close/timeout).

Timeout Protection

Every bounty has an expiration date (default: 90 days). After this date, the maintainer can reclaim their funds directly from the smart contract — no oracle signature required. This protects you even if our service goes offline.

Fees

  • Commission: We may charge a commission on successful bounty completions. The current rate (if any) is displayed when a bounty is paid. No commission is charged on refunds or timeouts.
  • Network fees: Bitcoin Cash transaction fees are paid from the bounty amount. These are typically very small (fractions of a cent).
  • No hidden fees: What you see is what you get.

Risks

By using issues.cash, you acknowledge and accept these risks:

  • Cryptocurrency volatility. The value of BCH can fluctuate significantly.
  • Smart contract risks. While our contracts are designed to be secure, bugs in smart contracts can lead to loss of funds. Our code is open source for review.
  • Blockchain finality. Transactions on Bitcoin Cash are irreversible. Double-check addresses before sending.
  • Service availability. We strive for high availability, but the service may be interrupted. The timeout mechanism protects your funds in this case.
  • Regulatory uncertainty. Cryptocurrency regulations vary by jurisdiction and may change.

Prohibited Uses

You may not use issues.cash for any illegal activity under applicable law.

Intellectual Property

  • Your code is yours. We claim no ownership over code you submit for bounties. Licensing is between you and the repository maintainer.
  • Open source. Our smart contracts and platform code are open source. Check our GitHub repository for licenses.

Limitation of Liability

issues.cash is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or cryptocurrency.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless issues.cash and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these terms.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to issues.cash at any time, for any reason, without notice. This might happen if we believe you're violating these terms or applicable law.

If your access is terminated, any active bounties you've funded will still be governed by their smart contracts. You can always reclaim funds after the timeout period expires.

Disputes

We don't arbitrate disputes about code quality, bounty eligibility, or whether a PR/MR should have been merged.
